ONE DAY BRIDE • Alice

It seemed only fitting that Alice and Jonathan were married on Valentine’s Day. Introduced by Jon’s older sister, love was in the air before they even realised. So what does a wedding on Valentine’s Day call for? A big dose of love, beautiful bright colours and a whole lot of fun.

BRIDE… Alice Mouatt

GROOM… Jonathan Arad

WEDDING DATE… 14 February 201

WHEN AND HOW WE MET

Jon’s sister introduced us (she and I are old high school friends) – I think she knew we were perfect for each other before we did!

After 11 years, Jon (finally!) proposed while we were on holiday in Italy, in a picturesque little town in Tuscany called Panzano. I think it’s probably the most romantic thing he’s ever done!

OUR WEDDING LOCATION

Sydney is such a beautiful city and there are so many venues to choose from. We decided to go with Athol Hall because it had a beautiful harbour view in a natural setting, great indoor and outdoor spaces and was a rustic blank canvas that we could decorate how we liked.

THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN

I love Pinterest (I think it was made for brides) and very early on I came across this quote which I pinned at the start of my inspiration board:

“If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.”

WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?

There were a few things…

The dress! I had been looking for a few months and had tried on a few dresses, but hadn’t found the right one. It didn’t help that I had never actually thought about what kind of a wedding dress I might like! I came across the Charlie dress on Instagram, and immediately I had to have my dress in the Charlie lace! It was just exquisite and so different from anything else I had seen.

Flowers – I love flowers and wanted lots of them. Our florist Hanako did an AMAZING job!! I still can’t believe how beautiful the flowers were! The brief was dutch still life paintings but with lots of rich reds, pinks and purples to fit the Valentine’s theme. They turned out even better than I could have imagined!

I had come across Lara’s work before (friend’s, blogs) and loved her work. She was the first vendor we locked in.

DRESS & VEIL

I did a lot of research on blogs, Instagram and Pinterest. I had visited a few bridal stores in Sydney but wasn’t that impressed. I had come across a few designers in Melbourne that I loved (including One Day of course) and did a trip down to investigate. Melbourne is definitely where it’s at for bridal style!

SHOES: Senso

Something that wasn’t going to sink into the grass while I walked down the aisle! I loved the chunky heel on the Senso shoes, plus they had glitter in them so immediately a winner.

BRIDESMIAD DRESSES

We had our sisters as our bridesmaid and best woman. They both decided that they liked the same style (although with different necklines), and my talented friend Michelle Lukacevic made the dresses for us. She did an excellent job and the girls were so happy with them
