Puerh

Puerh has been used in Chinese culture for centuries to reduce bloating, detox the digestive system, relieve stress and lower cholesterol. It warms and detoxes the body and invigorates the spleen and stomach to work in harmony, aid digestion and lift dampness. It’s also rich in antioxidants and catchetins.

Rose Petals

Aside from looking pretty and tasting sweet, rose petals play a vital role in the Happy Soul blend. Rose petals are known for their beautifying and cleaning properties. They’re immune boosting and anti-inflammatory, and are an effective form of cooling your body and cleansing the gall bladder and liver. They’re rich in antioxidants, which promote cell growth, and are packed with vitamins A, B, C and E. The calming properties work towards clearing skin and alleviating the symptoms of skin allergies and eczema.

Schisandra Berry

Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is an integral part of the Happy Soul blend. The small berry boasts a punch of powerful properties to make you feel your ultimate best. Schisandra works on two major systems – your detoxification system and your nervous system. As a liver protector, this herb supports your liver while it does its job of churning through hundreds of substances (good and bad) per day. On top of this, the nervous system gets some tender love and care as this herb works to build your resilience to the physical and emotional stressors of your day leaving you feeling more vital and less reactive. And if that wasn’t enough, Schisandra is also rich in vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene – the ultimate 4-pack when it comes to nutrition for beautiful and youthful skin.

Dandelion Root and Leaf

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a double-edged sword with its roots keeping check on your liver and the leaves supporting your kidneys by cleansing your blood. The Happy Soul blend contains both! A double-detox whammy. The root stimulates bile flow from your gall bladder which means you can break down fats and assimilate the fat-soluble nutrients A, D, E and K like a dream. The leaf purifies your blood by supporting the function of the kidneys. Both of these functions mean you move toxins out of your body effectively rather than letting them build up and recirculate. Toxins can cause your skin to break out, your hormones to go haywire and your mood to plummet straight to the bottom so getting them out quickly is a very good thing. You can thank the ol’ faithful dandelion later.

Manderine Peel

Manderine Peel (Chen Pi) is all for your digestion. It kicks it back into gear so everything runs smoothly right from the moment the food enters your mouth. The Happy Soul blend is designed to be enjoyed before meals and this is when this herb shines a little brighter than the rest. This is because this TCM herb is acrid, bitter, aromatic and warming – all the qualities needed for a herbal aperitif. If you suffer from a sluggish system and can be prone to feeling full, bloated, gassy or nauseas when eating time comes around then this herb is for you.

Magnolia Bark

Magnolia bark (Magnolia officinalis) is a herb that has had a long history of use in Chinese Herbal Medicine and is beginning to find its place in Western Herbal Medicine as a very useful herb. Using magnolia, you may notice you begin to feel a better sense of calm within yourself, which results in less tension, a better mood and a smooth operating system. You may also notice your sugar cravings don’t hit you across the face at 3pm and that chocolate bar you once would have given your life for doesn’t strike a chord anymore. This is because Magnolia contains a profile of phytochemicals powerful enough to reduce anxiety and also assist in monitoring your blood sugar levels, so they don’t dip and dive all over the place. Throughout history, it has also proven its place as a digestive herb that soothes cramping and distension in the digestive system and promotes a healthy appetite.
