2018 Brownlow Medal
The winner has been announced, the jewels and frocks returned but the red carpet lives on.
Each year the One Day team loves to take a brief few days away from designing our next bridal collection and focus designing for the red carpet. This year our team worked with six lovely wives and girlfriends of AFL’s best for the annual AFL Brownlow Medal.
This year we also teamed up with Crown Resorts who came behind the scenes to capture how we prepare for one of Australia’s most watched red carpet events.
Crown visited our South Melbourne Headquarters to interview Designer, Kyha about how we prepare for the event and get an inside glimpse at the making of the gowns.
You can watch the full interview here on Crown Resort’s Instagram TV.
One of our favourite looks from the night has to be our Custom CHOSEN gown for girlfriend of Tom Mitchell, winner of the night’s Brownlow Medal. As it was Hannah’s first year on the red carpet, Kyha wanted to ensure that what we created for her was a look and style that she loved and felt comfortable in. We went for a deep v with fitted sleeve and open back to balance her small frame. The custom designed sheer fabric from the brands recently released ‘La Bella Donna’ Collection was perfect for the event.
Paired with statement yellow and pink Citrine and Diamond earrings and ring by Kallure Jewellery and clutch by Olga Berg, Hannah’s look was effortless and pulled back. Joey Scandizzo created soft waves and a gold glow by Tonic Make Up Agency.
Red carpet Veterans Jerri and Nathan Jones are always prepared to make a statement. Nathan chose a white blazer from M.J Bale and Jerri wore a Bespoke One Day design with an organic fitted bodice flowing into a full skirt.
No stranger to the red carpet, Sarah Roughead, wife to Hawthorn favorite Jarryd, went for a more slimline look this year with dripping glomesh for the new mum.
Not having worked with glomesh before, this particular gown was one of the last to be finished with final touches being made on the night to ensure the gown fit Sarah perfectly.
Next was the beautiful Dani Shreeve, girlfriend to Hawthron’s Jack Gunston. Dani wore a fitted sheer gold sequin gown with asymmetrical sleeve detail. Styled by Meggy Smith, Dani is always a favourite on the red carpet and always a pleasure to work with.
This year marked the first year we worked with Tiffany Sayers, Fiance to Easton Wood, captain of the Western Bulldogs. In addition, Monday night’s red carpet marked a significant event for Tiff and Easton as they announced their engagement. As a soon to be One Day Bride we couldn’t resist dressing this beautiful lady.
Tiff’s gown is an exciting glimpse of next years collection for CHOSEN, due to be released in February. Paired with custom designed earrings by Jeanette Maree and hair and make up by Joey Scandizzo and Tonic Agency.
Last but certainly not least was our very own red carpet princess, Bel Gray. Bel, who was also wearing a new gown by CHOSEN, made a statement in this pleated pink tulle gown. Accessorised with statement Amethyst and Diamond drop earrings by Kallure Jewellery and pulled back hair by our favourites Joey Scandizzo and make up by Tonic Agency.
The Brownlow Red Carpet is Australia’s most celebrated event for showcasing Australian Brands and Designers and we feel so honoured to have dressed and worked with so many talented people over the lead up to the event.
A special thank you to Crown Resorts for working with us and capturing the intense lead up to the day as well as the excitement and buzz before the red carpet. The Brownlow is always an exciting time for our team so we hope you love the looks we have created.
