WHEN AND HOW WE MET
We first met briefly when I was only eighteen. Andrew was the captain of the local footy club and I (and just about every other girl) had a MAJOR crush! It wasn’t until a while later that I found out he had quite the crush on me too. We met again around five years later when out with mutual friends. We hit it off instantly and spent the entire night talking to each other! After two months of dating, on Christmas Day, he asked me to be his girlfriend and we’ve lead the most spectacularly fun journey together ever since!
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
We had our ceremony at the Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, followed by an amazing reception at Vue de Monde. We chose the gardens as Andrew lived around the corner from there when we first started dating and eventually I lived there too, so we have so many special memories there. And Vue de Monde? It’s Melbourne’s best venue; the view, the food, the drinks- unbeatable!
THE DRESS : The Sadie Gown
I had no clue what I wanted and I put off shopping for a dress for quite a while because I hate to say it but as a rule I loathe wedding dresses! I was very fearful of being bombarded with a lot of puffiness and corseted numbers- but then one of my bridesmaids tagged me in the Nala dress, it was so different. I booked straight in with One Day and was totally blown away. Their designs were so unique and more like gorgeous evening gowns that classic wedding dresses. I loved everything I tried on but I fell in love with Sadie as soon as I put her on!
THE WEDDING PARTY
Andrew wore Gucci, the boys were in Arthur Gallan and my lovely ladies wore a gorgeous Bianca Spender cocoon dress that I wish I had gotten for myself too!!
WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
We both agreed we wanted our day to be a big party- nothing too formal or traditional. We had our favourite Champagne served to guests before the ceremony commenced and our reception was a gorgeous cocktail party with Southsides and Apple Mint Swizzles. Even our first dance was a little bit party!
Also, our gorgeous little pooch Hugo had to be involved!
My fabulous ladies surprised me with a beautiful lunch in a private room they had decorated at Trunk Bar, followed by espresso martinis at Siglo and finishing up the night at Candela Nuevo!
ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES
Relax! No one likes an uptight bride and you will have way more fun!
