Danielle + John

19th February, 2016

Although John and I went to the same school and grew up around the corner from each other, our true journey together commenced many years later at work.

I still remember the day John started at Levis. He walked passed with a friendly smile and was stationed at the desk right across from mine. Our friendship was instant. We were literally like 2 peas in a pod.

We evolved from work buddies to best friends, and from best friends to soul mates. We have almost never spent a day apart and have 2 (nearly 3) beautiful children together.

Over the years we’ve shared many laughs, coffees and post-it notes! During our wedding day John arranged for all of those little notes to be handed to me at 11 past the hour, for every hour until our ceremony commenced. It was incredibly special, thoughtful, and so unexpected.

We chose The Deck, Circa for our reception venue. This was an easy choice for us. We had lived in the area and created many happy memories there together. We wanted a bright and open space that was modern and simple, with equally impressive service and catering. We knew everything about Circa would be perfect and that it would compliment our style.

Our ceremony was at the beautiful St Mary’s church in Caulfield.

I had fallen in love with One Day Bridal and their gowns years before we were even engaged.

Initially I was hoping to walk in and immediately find “the dress”. However after trying on a variety of beautiful gowns I realised that I needed to consider what style felt right for me.

It didn’t take long to know the look and feel that I wanted, but I had no idea how to explain it or if it would even look good. I had my heart set on a full skirt created with beautiful, soft, floaty layers. To be honest I would of felt most comfortable matching it with a plain white tee! However wanting to feel a little more “bridal” the next best thing was a delicate blouse. Kyha and the team at ODB were truly amazing and created the most beautiful gown for me.

It sounds a little cliché but our theme was to create a feeling of warmth, romance, and beauty. We ultimately wanted all our guests to feel the love without going over-the-top. I wanted loads of candlelight and soft florals, with hints of modern décor. To compliment our theme the colour palette was made up of soft whites and ivories with accents of blush, burgundy, and copper.

Our styling was mostly DIY and the boys put in A LOT of work on the day. From setting up the DIY photo booth to installing the outdoor lighting, they had a very busy morning! We also had a wooden structure over the bridal table with copper pendant lighting, which they built and installed. It was truly very impressive.

Over time I had collected boxes and boxes of various candles, décor, frames ect.. I won’t lie there were many months of research, preparation, and coordination before the big day. We could not have pulled it off without the assistance of the amazing staff at Circa.

It’s something most brides are told… I’d always remind myself “not to sweat about the small stuff.”

John and I knew right from the beginning of the wedding planning process that we wanted to ensure our guests had a great night. Therefore a great venue, amazing food, and a live band were at the top of our list. We had an oyster bar during canapé service along with refreshing cocktails on arrival. And as the night progressed our guests enjoyed an Espresso Martini or two.

A videographer was our own personal must-have. We had followed and loved The White Tree long before our wedding, and knew our day could not go ahead without them.

I also really wanted lots of beautiful flowers, flowers flowers flowers.

My bridesmaids organised a perfect day and night. I was picked up during the morning, had my hair and makeup done, and treated to an intimate lunch where I could really take a moment to enjoy the day. I was then taken to a hotel room where all the girls joined us for a night of celebrations. We really had a lot of fun..

Find a moment to be alone with your new husband to stop and breathe it all in as a couple. It’s a really busy day, so I’d recommend allocating someone to locate you both and pull you away!

Select a photographer who is right for you and captures all the details of your day, so you have memories that last forever.

PINTEREST is amazing for DIY styling.
