Louise • A One Day Bride
Louise and Anthony created a modern and intimate atmosphere for their wedding through the use of dark colours with pops of bright colours and different textures. Wearing a our beautiful Lou gown with a statement low back covered in a stunning beaded lace, Louise celebrated amongst friends and families with a cocktail in hand!
BRIDE… Louise Jane Byron
GROOM… Anthony James Voyage
WEDDING DATE… 06.02.2016
WHEN AND HOW WE MET…
Anthony and I met at work; we knew each other for nearly a year just as friends before we started dating. After nearly 18 months of trying (poorly) to keep it under wraps at our workplace Anthony moved companies – which made it all a bit simpler! We were together for just under five years before Anthony proposed, helped out by our dog Frankie.
OUR WEDDING LOCATION…
I am from the Mornington Peninsula, and Anthony is from the city so we compromised by having an engagement party at my parent’s property at Flinders, and then the wedding a bit more central for all our guests up in the city.
Anthony and I wanted a traditional ceremony, followed by a big old party! We were married in the Church of St Peter at Melbourne Grammar, as Anthony is an old boy and we just loved the size of the church and the stunning blue stone.
The reception choice was really hard, but we ended up on The Deck at Circa. The Deck was the perfect size for us, had that party feel and perfect for a summer night. We know there are a lot of weddings at The Deck, so we put a lot of effort into the styling to really make it different and ‘ours’.
I worked with the most wonderful team Rocco and Kate from Enpointe events who made my every dream come true.
The theme of our wedding was modern and chic so we discussed having a black base with heaps of colour injected in! When we initially told our parents the chairs and table cloths would be black I think they thought we had gone mad, but on the night it just looked spectacular with the burst of colour from the flowers.
The one part of the venue we weren’t sure what to do with in Circa was the pool, so we decided to cover it completely! As Rocco said people will walk in and expect the pool – so make impact and hide it…so that is what we did! They rigged up floor to ceiling black draping around the pool and the back wall and had fairy lights over the draping. As dusk turned into night, the backdrop with the fairy lights was perfect!
The flowers were seriously next level, we had heaps! They were so bright and everyone commented on them. The enpoint team used Cecilia Fox who did a great job, and the nicest touch was at the end of the night all our guests were able to take a bouquets home with them.
THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN
Breathe and have fun! I certainly did. Once the formalities were over including our dance and speech I was straight on the cocktails!
Anthony and I treated the night like a big party and I think that lightened the mood and everyone fed off that.
WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
Mine was cocktails (lychee and espresso martini’s!) Anthony was pretty flexible, the only comment was that he didn’t want too much white at the reception, hence the black base theme! And to somehow include our dog, Frankie…hence “Frankie’s Bar!”
My gorgeous bridesmaids organised a beautiful night in Melbourne with dinner at Spice Temple, drinks, dancing…and some classy entertainment!

DRESS & VEIL
Both the Dress and the veil were from One Day Bridal.
I used to live in Elwood and always walked past their store when it was there, so when I became engaged it was the perfect time to walk in! Both ODB and I had moved to Brighton!
I tried on a few dresses at ODB and found a style I loved, (the Lou dress- meant to be!) but the fabric I felt was too casual for the wedding, so the team found the most stunning beaded lace and then I was done! As I had not gone anywhere else, I thought I had better try the “High St Walk” which I did with my mum, after going into every store and not trying on one dress I knew I would be going back to One Day to place the order!
From there the process was so easy! After the third fitting I made a few minor changes and the team was so great and accommodating, it really made me so much more at ease.
I didn’t want shoes that we too high, which posed a problem! After scouring the internet for days on end, I found a perfect pair of Badgley Mischka with the perfect amount of sparkle and the exact height
I was pretty relaxed about the bridesmaid dresses, but I was set on Navy. I had 4 bridesmaids, and after scouring the shops for a while we ending up fining a dress from Review that they all liked! Halleluiah
FLOWERS: Cecilia Fox
My brief for the flowers for the ceremony was white to keep with the more traditional ceremony. Then for the party reception we wanted heaps of flowers and I wanted them all to be rich and bold colours, no pastels.

GIFT REGISTORY OR WISHING WELL
As Anthony and I had lived together for nearly 6 years by the time we became married, we had a lot of things for the house, so we set up a registry to help with our Bora Bora Honeymoon. We used Not Another Toaster and we found this so simple and easy for us and guests!
