WHITNEY • A ONE DAY BRIDE
A classic yet charming ceremony, positioned high above the bay. With a breathtaking views out towards Melbourne, Jack Rabbit Winery was an obvious choice for this couple. With a plethora of talented vendors, including our favourite people at Purple Ribbon Wedding and Kristen Cook photography we are so excited to share this wedding with you.
Whitney and Cody’s wedding was a quintessentially perfect for two wine lovers.
BRIDE… Whitney Parwata
GROOM… Cody Bettanin
WHEN AND HOW WE MET
Cody and I met when we were both working part time whilst still at school. We became close friends and that lead to a relationship years later. Although it seemed like a punt on our friendship at the time, we decided it was worth all the risks… and here we are!
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
Jack Rabbit Vineyard, Bellarine. We knew we always wanted to marry at a winery because of our love for red wine! We were originally looking at the Yarra Valley, however decided we wanted to make a weekend of it so began to research other areas… (So glad we did!) We had a few appointments lined up, however as soon as we arrived at Jack Rabbit we knew it was the one (We didn’t bother with the other appointments!). It was a hidden gem with views like no other. We were continuously blown away with the surroundings, service and food at every meeting we had and from the feedback we received from our guests, they agreed.
I styled the wedding myself with the help from some amazing vendors! I wanted a chic look with a relaxed feel. I chose a natural colour palette of whites and greens to compliment the venue. I chose to keep the styling simple, as I didn’t want anything to detract from the unrivalled views across the bay to Geelong, the You Tangs, Melbourne and the vines.
We didn’t want a traditional or typical wedding, which is why I gathered a lot of ideas and inspiration from The Lane, One Fine Day and The Style Co.
THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN
After our main course, Cody and I went for a wander to the deck with a glass of red and sat for a few minutes to recap on what had been the most perfect day. We loved looking inside to see all of our family and close friends enjoying themselves as much as we had been. This was a very special moment.
WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
Sean Marchetti was our singer. I am a music freak who is hard to please (according to my friends!). I knew Sean was the one after the first song I ever heard him play. It is truly amazing the impact one person can have on creating a mood in a room. He produced his own versions of up-beat, relaxed songs that had people dancing through dinner. Not traditional and exactly what we wanted.
I was a little greedy and had two – one with my closest girlfriends at the Yarra Valley Races and the other was more traditional – a combined kitchen tea and hens with all my family and friends. Both were amazing!
CEREMONY VENUE: Jack Rabbit Vineyard
Soiree Darling – Ceremony Arbor
Peppermint Press – Wedding Stationary
PHOTOGRAPHY: Kristen Cook
We planned our wedding date around my favourite photographer who I had been following for years – Kristen Cook. I didn’t want your cliché portrait ‘wedding’ shots. I wanted the photos to tell a story of the day and capture the relaxed and emotional vibe that was created. I honestly couldn’t imagine having anyone else on the day. She is one of a kind.
VIDEO: Purple Ribbon
Wow!! We were totally speechless with what the guys were able to achieve. We knew they were the best, yet they still managed to completely blow us away with our video.
DRESS & VEIL
The second I walked into ODB, I knew I wanted to work with Kyha, Steph and the team. The girls are so relaxed and easy going. It’s exactly what you want when the whole experience can be overwhelming and daunting. I felt like I had been a friend of the girls for years. I had saved a particular gown that I would stare at nearly all day every day leading up to my first appointment. When I arrived I tried it on amongst others, but I knew that was the one. After a few amendments I had my own variation of the Evelyn gown. Everything about this experience was perfect from start to end.
Valentino Rock Stud – This was a mission!! I had to have these shoes and I was prepared to move heaven and earth to ensure these were on my feet come wedding day! I found the last pair at David Jones in Perth and had them sent to me a couple of weeks before. I wanted a shoe that made a statement, but also something I could wear again. These were perfect.
I had six bridesmaids.. yes..SIX! This was probably the most difficult part of the process. I needed a style that suited all shapes and sizes and a colour that worked well for all skin tones. I have always loved navy and luckily Sheike had restocked their Grecian Maxi in this colour. It was the very first dress that was tried on and after a hundred others I’m happy to say it was the last! The dresses were so flattering on all of the girls – they looked absolutely stunning!
FLOWERS: Smellies Florist – I opted for only whites and greens to compliment the stationary.
CAKE: Cody’s sister – Kristy Moore. Mississippi Mud Cake
BAND OR DJ: Sean Marchetti
GIFT REGISTORY/WISHING WELL
We had a wishing well towards our honeymoon – We recently moved into our new house so already had furniture etc. It’s purely a personal choice but however your guests will appreciate your honesty as they will want to contribute towards something you really need.
