The LOFT (Lab Of Fairy Tales) a fashion-forward bridal destination created by Jacqueline Au, is one of Hong Kong’s newest bridal stores. The LOFT exclusively stocks our ONE DAY gowns along with other leading bridal designers. We interviewed Jacqueline to find out what sets her bridal boutique out from the rest.

Tell us about your boutique!

What we have put together is a modern point of view on bridal – a curation of products and in-store experience that help brides tell that story of individual beauty- the one that captures the very essence of who she is. It is not about what a bride should, or should not, look like. It is about her – the bride- her difference, her unique beauty, and how she wants to tell her own story as she creates a new chapter in life as one half of a duo. That is why LOFT actually stands for Lab Of Fairy Tales.

The DNA of the LOFT resonates deeply with me and what I believe in – Style isn’t just about what you wear, it’s about how you wear it. It is more about being yourself, defining yourself and your unique beauty through fashion instead of being defined by the stereotypes of beauty. It is an exciting intersection of the worlds that I love- fashion, beauty and empowerment of women.

What sets your boutique out from the rest?

We take risks and steer clear of what has been done before. We are constantly on the look out for newness in everything from bridal fashion and accessories to beauty. We are always trying things on, seeing how things fit, what kind of figures and personalities they will fit, if they’re off, if they’re not comfortable — that’s really important to us.

We always think about our audience – the modern women, how they think and evolve through times; we listen to what they want & curate an edit of beautiful hidden gems that resonate with them and empower them to tell their own stories in exactly the way they want; we want to be the answer to their dreams and visions of themselves in that one important day of their lives.

We are like a lifestyle, a way of thinking about bridal and what defines the modern bride today. We are more than just selling the brands and the gowns we have.

What inspires the style for your studio?

Loft spaces! It is virtually impossible to find a loft space in Hong Kong but we managed to secure a space in an old walk-up building which gives us a very high ceiling and a balcony, making it quite “lofty” and allowing a lot of natural light and air to flow in.

With the interior, I wanted to keep it modern and minimalist – monochromatic with touches of gold and silver. I also used a lot of mirrors, marbles and concrete in the space to give a touch of industrial chic to the studio.

Describe your bride in 3 words.

Authentic. Fun. Strong but vulnerable at the same time

What the best advice that you give your brides?

Trust your gut

What are your brides loving at the moment?

My brides are loving the ear cuffs from Ryan Storer at the moment. They are trading their veils for edgy, (and seriously stunning) jewelleries.

What One Day gown would you wear on your wedding day?

The Lexington which is exclusively created by Kyha for us. I love the dramatic train and the contrast of the train with the short front. It also calls for a pair of statement heels, which is my other obsession.

What are your styling “no no’s” for brides?

Don’t overwork your hair and make up on the big day. You should just be the very best version of yourself and not a different person altogether.

The Shoes – to go for comfort or wow factor?

Definitely WOW FACTOR especially for styles where they can see your shoes.
