KELLY: A ONE DAY BRIDE
WHEN AND HOW WE MET
The good old fashioned way- at the bar. We had both just moved to Melbourne we danced, kissed and started dating the following week. Weve been growing together and building a life together ever since.
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
THE DRESS + VEIL
I had been to another bridal boutique and didnt feel too inspired; I wanted something a little different and everything I had tried on felt too bridey. At1st appointment at One Day I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in. We tried on a handful of dresses, then I put the Willow dress on, as soon as it slipped over my head I knew it was the one.
I hadnt planned on wearing a veil but decided on one last minute, it created a really lovely romantic look. My dad lifting the veil during the ceremony was also a very special moment.
We wanted to create something relaxed, rustic, romantic and warm with a sense of the Australian countryside. The Barn needed very little styling, adorned with chesterfields, vintage lamps throughout and old farm equipment on the grounds. We did all of the additional styling ourselves; bridesmaids, family, friends all contributing in the lead up to the day.
THE BEST ADVICE I WAS GIVEN
Be yourselves, make sure your day is reflective of you both as a couple. Its so easy to get swept up in what you think a wedding should be or what it should look like, focus on the important things. Your love, families, friends and having a great time celebrating those three things together. At the end of the day we really felt that the celebration was as much about the people that surround us and support us as it was of our marriage.
We spent the afternoon at South Press, one of our favourite local wine bars in South Yarra. The courtyard is gorgeous and vine covered, sun drenched and the weather was perfect to drink champagne and eat dozens of oysters. Then we continued on to the penthouse at The Blackman to watch the sunset and drink more wine.
