Sophie: A KYHA Bride
WHEN AND HOW WE MET
There are two stories as to how we met! The first is that we met on a dance floor and danced the night away and the other is that we met in the city at my brothers spin studio Scenic Cycle where I was working when I was finishing my fashion degree. I say dance floor, Phil says Scenic Cycle!
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
I absolutely loved Redleaf when I saw it. I felt like I was in Tuscany. The house and grounds were beyond perfect and there was a stunning lavender garden with an aisle in the middle which was just idyllic! I couldnt imagine getting married anywhere else.
THE DRESS: Chosen Calli Skirt & Top
I am in fashion and I was on Pinterest one day looking for inspiration for a collection that I was designing, and I came across an image of the Sadie gown that was shot in the sand dunes and I was like THAT is the dress I will get married in KYHA! Another funny connection with that image is that I shot my final graduate collection with the same model in the same sand dunes a few years earlier! SO I was determined it was meant to be! Then I got engaged and went back onto Pinterest and re found the image which lead me to a blog post about it which lead me to KYHA and I called them straight away and made an appointment! I went down to Melbourne with my mum, tried it on and LOVED it. However, when I went back in July to try on the Sadie again the fabric had changed and also the new collection was there and I tried on all these other dresses and absolutely fell in love with the Cali Skirt and Top. It was a curveball but it was so much more me. The wedding was going to be in Summer and it felt much more temperature appropriate!! Outside of KYHA I only tried on one dress!
THE WEDDING PARTY
All my beautiful bridesmaids wore Show Me Your Mumu dresses. One of my best friends and bridesmaids is one of the founders of the company so it was a given that my bridesmaids would be wearing Mumu. You cant go wrong with Mumu the best bridesmaids dresses out there.
WHAT WAS YOUR NON NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
The band. I am all about the dance floor! We had the best band for our wedding, Luke Zanc Trio + Tannah. Tannah and Luke are engaged, and their chemistry is off the charts!! They are so talented and the whole band were so amazing, and they literally had everyone on the dance floor right till the end!
I had my hens party in Sydney. The theme was Copacabana and everyone had to wear colour and print no black allowed!!! We had a long lunch at my family home on the tennis court and then we went onto a boat on Sydney Harbour. It was the second best day of my life (after the wedding!!) We drank and danced the night away!
YOUR ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES
Ask for help people love to help others! Dont sweat the small things and enjoy the lead up to the wedding. Everything is set in place and there isnt anything you can do or change on the day so just step back and enjoy the day being the best day of your life!
